Not every practice needs a large central suction system. For one or two chairs, Cattani designed the Micro-Smart. It brings Smart technology into a smaller format. This article explains what it offers, how it differs from the Micro-Smart Cube, and what to check before you choose.
Suction designed for small practices
According to Cattani, the Micro-Smart is designed for one or two chairs, with great installation flexibility and significant energy savings. Like the Turbo Smart, it is an original and innovative machine, protected by 6 patents.
The manufacturer's recommendation fits in one sentence: “Suggested for 1-2 surgeries working at the same time”.
Its main specifications:
- maximum flow: 900 l/min;
- maximum vacuum in continuous operation: 210 mbar;
- absorbed power: 1.12 kW;
- dimensions: 370 × 340 × 590 mm;
- a suction unit weighing only 7 kg.
Variable speed: the machine works to demand
The Micro-Smart uses VSD (variable speed drive) technology. According to Cattani, it extends motor life and reduces consumption and running costs.
With a single chair, three speeds are preset:
- 70 mbar for the saliva ejector;
- 100 mbar for the HVE cannula;
- 210 mbar for the surgical cannula.

One chair or two? A nuance worth knowing
The Micro Smart brochure adds a useful detail. The machine is recommended for two chairs in Italy and Spain, but for one chair in France and the United Kingdom. Working habits make the difference.
In practice, ask yourself how the machine will really be used. Two dentists who often use the surgical cannula at the same time put more demand on it. In that case, also look at the Micro-Smart Cube, or a Turbo-Smart for two chairs.
Micro-Smart Cube: the compact variant
The Micro-Smart Cube carries the same recommendation: “Suggested for 1-2 surgeries working at the same time”. Cattani also recommends it for two chairs working simultaneously and in continuous operation.
What sets it apart:
- smaller motors, to save electricity and reduce noise;
- a 6 kg Uni-Jet 25 suction unit;
- a maximum flow of 1000 l/min, for 0.95 kW absorbed;
- 59 dB(A) with ducted air;
- 420 × 350 × 470 mm, for a net weight of 21.5 kg.
Noise and placement
The Micro-Smart is rated at 64 to 71 dB(A) without a cover. In an indoor cabinet, this drops to 41 to 48 dB(A). Amalgam separation and monitoring
The Micro-Smart is paired with the Hydrocyclone ISO 6amalgam separator. Its maximum flow is 5.5 l/min according to ISO 11143, with a 115 ml amalgam container. The amalgam level is monitored electronically.
The Micro-Smart and Micro-Smart Cube can also be controlled with the SmartApp, on a tablet or smartphone. You can check the status of the suction system without going down to the equipment room.
Suction and compressed air in one cabinet
Short on space? The Blok-Jet Silent 1 combines a Micro-Smart with Hydrocyclone ISO 6 and an AC 200 compressor. According to its manual, the Blok-Jet Silent 1 is designed to serve two dental chairs working simultaneously. Software adapts energy consumption to the number of operators. The unit is rated at 57.5 dB(A) and measures 727 × 577 × 1583 mm.
If you choose a separate oil-free dental compressor, Cattani recommends theAC 100 : “Suggested for 1 dental unit”, and theAC 200 : “Suggested for 2 dental units”.
In short
- Micro-Smart: 1 to 2 chairs, 900 l/min, variable speed, three preset speeds.
- Micro-Smart Cube: 1 to 2 chairs, including continuous operation, 1000 l/min, more compact.
- Blok-Jet Silent 1: suction and compressed air combined for two chairs.
Even so, do not undersize. According to Cattani, the saving at purchase is not real, and you lose suction unit service life and energy savings. Compare the full range on the Suction.
